Critique 4: Review of Group Project “The Invasion of Ipyria.”
I decided for The Invasion of Ipyria regarding my 4th critique created by George, Jonathan and Kate.
It is a very interesting project especially because it has important traditional fiction elements such as story plot. I particularly liked the mystery element where the reader makes the decision of choosing his/her path out of the situation. The links to each option works great in the sense that the reader could also be a character in the story. This fact is the strongest point of this project not only because the reader is interacting by choosing the links but also because the reader could function as the character in the story.
This type of fiction interaction has great potential because a short and simple story offers endless possibilities in terms of fiction elements such as characters, plot, tone, point of view…
The interaction between the author and the reader can function like a game where the reader engages in the plot or story in a way that is not possible in traditional fiction reading. It is true that by reading fiction from a traditional book or plain text the reader interact by flipping its pages, but by reading through interactive fiction, the reader selects kind of his/her destiny. For instance, this story plot offers four different links to the readers that functions like four different paths to take in order to be out of that particular situation.
Overall this project has accomplished to present an idea that through interactive fiction the possibilities are endless in terms of fiction elements to create great stories in the digital world.
